LVDT/RVDT
Measure and simulate LVDT and RVDT sensor output signals
LVDTs
Linear variable differential transformers (LVDT) are electrical transformer sensors to measure linear displacement. Driven by an AC excitation source, the LVDT generates a pair of AC output signals that are modulated according to the mechanical position (displacement) of the core. LVDTs are commonly used for position feedback in servomechanisms, and for automated measurement in machine tools and many other industrial and scientific applications.
RVDTs
Rotational variable differential transformers (RVDT) are electromechanical transducer sensors providing a variable alternating current (AC) output voltage that is linearly proportional to the angular displacement of its input shaft. When energized with a fixed AC source, the output signal is linear within a specified range over the angular displacement.
Measure and simulate sensor output signals
To read the sensor measurement data, but also to test potentially damaging or dangerous operational limits and test fault conditions, the Speedgoat supported LVDT/RVDT PCI I/O module includes a mix of both, measurement channels and stimulus outputs.
The LVDT/RVDT I/O modules can be installed into the Basic (PCI-76CL1) or Classic (73LD3) real-time target machine and are supported by the xPC Target driver library. Depending on your needs external signal conditioning might be required. Additional I/O modules in the half-size PCI form factor for the use with the Performance or Automation real-time target machine can be supported on request.
| I/O module | Form factor | Description |
| PCI-76CL1 | PCI (full sized) | 8 LVDT/RVDT measurement channels and 6 3/4-Wire or 12 2-Wire LVDT/RVDT stimulus outputs |
| 73LD3 | PC104 | 6 2-wire or 3/4-wire transformer isolated autoranging inputs for LVDT/RVDT measurement |
