Basic real-time target machine - I/O expansion

The main advantage the use of an industrial mainboard provides is the availability of more PCI slots for I/O modules than found in your typical desktop PC. The Basic real-time machine has free PCI slots for up to 5 I/O modules which should be sufficient for most applications. For this number of I/O modules the concept of the Basic real-time target machine can assure proper cooling of the I/O modules but also the main board including CPU by fans. If your applications require the use of more than 5 I/O modules the Modular real-time target machine is the right choice for you.

The Basic real-time target machine can be equipped with the large selection of PMC I/O modules Speedgoat offers. The same I/O module can then potentially also be reused in our other machines with the exception of the Classic real-time target system. A PMC module is mounted onto a passive PMC-to-PCI adapter and then plugged right into one of the five free PCI slots. If an I/O module is ordered with -Basic extension, the PMC-to-PCI adapter is part of the I/O module package.

In the case of existing legacy PCI I/O hardware or proprietary designs, native PCI I/O cards can be installed as well.
