Education real-time target machine - Required software
The Education real-time target machine is made for the use with Simulink and xPC Target from The MathWorks and includes all required software to setup and run your target machine within hours.
The following software is required or recommended to use the Education real-time target machine for mechatronic and custom FPGA design concepts:
The MathWorks
Each Education real-time target machine requires at least MATLAB, Simulink, Simulink Coder, and xPC Target from The MathWorks. A list of additionally recommended MathWorks software can be found here.
Microsoft/others
Visual C/C++ Express Edition (free versions available) or any other C/C++ Compiler supported by xPC Target.
Custom FPGA designs (Speedgoat and Xilinx)
To use the PWM, CAP, QAD, and DIO functionality provided with the Montion Control FPGA package no additional software or FPGA programming knowledge is required.
To develop custom FPGA implementations using the FPGA Development Guide for xPC Target and the Motion Control FPGA package - Type 1 you require the Xilinx ISE® WebPACK™ V. 10.1 (available for free).
To develop FPGA implementations using the FPGA Development Guide for xPC Target and the Motion Control FPGA package - Type 2 you require the Xilinx ISE Design Suite V. 10.X (Logic Edition, classroom pricing available). Recommended for custom FPGA implementations is the ModelSim Xilinx Edition-III.
Contact Speedgoat for further information about required and recommended software.
