Modular real-time target machine - Cooling Concept

Header picture

The Modular real-time target machine has a very effective cooling system.

Three low-noise 80mm DC fans from Papst mounted on the rear wall of the enclosure produce air suction which outtakes the heated-up airstream after it passed through the card cage.

The lower front section and the bottom section up to the separation of the enclosure is perforated and acts as the 'cold' air intake. The airstream is then forced through the card cage along its entire width and passes over the upper section of the enclosure (chassis). The fans then push the heated airstream out of the chassis.

This cooling concept is capable of properly cooling a fully populated card cage including power supply modules, CPU module, and up to 13 I/O modules.

In order for the cooling system to work properly all unused slots at the front of the chassis have to be covered by face plates. Also, all enclosure plates have to be mounted to the chassis during operation. Delivered Modular real-time target machines will always contain the necessary amount of face plates so all unused cPCI slots are covered.
