Modular real-time target machine - CPU Module
The CPU module of the Modular real-time target machine is a 3U double-width CompactPCI module and is installed in the system slot (far right) of the chassis' card cage.
The CPU module is designed and manufactured in Western Europe and guarantees highest quality and long term supply. This is not a short life cycle Far-East product.
The CPU module is equipped with an Intel Pentium-M CPU clocked at 1.8GHz with 2MB of second level cache. The chipset is the 855GME & 6300ESB with a front side bus clock of 400MHz. The real-time performance of this CPU module under xPC Target is excellent and is only outperformed by our fastest Basic and Performance real-time target machines. The CPU module contains 1024MB of soldered 333MHz DDR RAM.
As an option, a CPU module with 2.16GHz and 2048 MB soldered 333MHz DDR RAM is available, offering ever stronger performance.
As a disk drive a 1GB CompactFlash disk is securely mounted onto the CPU module. The Modular-HD40GB option extends the CPU module with an industrial grade 40GB hard disk mounted onto the CPU module itself.
The Modular real-time target machine doesn't include a floppy disk drive or CD-ROM drive in order to reduce mechanical and sensitive parts to a minimum. Therefore, the xPC Target software environment is pre-installed on the CompactFlash disk and xPC Target kernels are transferred from host to target by the use of the provided USB memory device.
The CPU module provides connection on its face plate to the following peripherals: Monitor (VGA), keyboard (PS/2), mouse (PS/2), 2 x USB 2.0, 2 x RS232, and two Gigabit Ethernet ports (10/100/1000Mb/s) which controller is xPC Target compatible (Version 3.0 and newer). The face plate also contains LED indicators and a reset switch.
The CPU module runs off a QuickBoot and highly optimized BIOS from Phoenix.
The CPU module has a passive heat sink and therefore no on board fans. It is the responsibility of the chassis' cooling system to provide a large enough air flow to dissipate the heat from the heat sink.
