Application Areas
Speedgoat real-time systems together with xPC Target from The MathWorks allow you to run and test your Simulink designs with your hardware in an early-as-possible stage using a flexible and independent development environment to prove your designs and continuously try new ideas.
Development platform:
|
Host/Target Simulation and real-time testing development platform running your control design or plant simulation. System under test (Plant or controller prototype) |
Depending on whether you design a control system or a plant simulation the following main application areas can be distinguished:
| Application Areas |
| Rapid Control Prototyping |
Test your control design with your physical plant/ system running on a target machine (Target machine acts as your controller)
|
| Hardware-in-the-Loop simulation |
Test your control hardware using a simulation of your physical plant/system running on a target machine(Target machine acts as your physical plant/system)
|
In addition, the xPC Target Embedded Option available separately at The MathWorks and extending xPC Target allows you to deploy your Simulink system design on Real-time target machines for one-off or small-medium quantity production series.
Benefits of real-time testing include:
- prove the functional correctness of system designs in an early-as-possible stage
- continuously try and implement new ideas using a production independent platform
- automate and repeat test conditions and test interactions between all components
- avoid the risk of test damages to expensive hardware and humans
- test controller algorithms even in cases where a physical prototype isn’t available
